This song came from a session I did with Ashton in my studio. The original session was a riff involving me on a Moog Voyager and him on guitar. It didn't really go anywhere, just on and on. It sat there, and after a while I began to come up with an arrangement for the song. The trick was we used an analog delay on the original recording, so syncing that up to a BPM was hard. Getting it locked into a grid took time, but eventually the task was accomplished and I was able to build more on top of that. When I presented it to Ashton, I told him I had an idea for him to riff like Eddie Van Halen all over the "rise" of the song. He nailed it perfectly! Nick's drums couldn't have come out more perfect, he had the feel for this right from the get go.
